Our client, one of the largest Nuclear Consultancies in the world are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer
who will be responsible for the Turbine Island's Systems engineering design development activities. The
Senior Mechanical Engineer will work closely with multi disciplined teams in supporting the development of
the Turbine Island design deliverables that forms part of a Small Modular Reactor major development
programme.
Key Responsibilities: 
 
·Responsible for preparing the Engineering task deliverables and managing their scope, quality, safety and risk management deliverables in-line with the programme and engineering schedule.
·Development of Functional  and Design Requirements
·Development of Equipment Lists and engineering schedules
·Develop requirement specifications and engineering designs using agreed engineering CAD, FEA and Modelling tools
·Act as technical support and point of contact for other project and interface activities
·Collaborate with the project partners and design development activities and interfaces, and support design reviews across multi disciplined teams
·Provide support input on for HAZID/HAZOP reviews, optioneering studies, design risk assessment and FMECA reviews.
·Liaise with  the project  safety team on nuclear safety  licensing, environmental and planning /permitting interface activities that are relevant to the Turbine Island scope.
·Ensure adherence to the company statutory H&S Policies and rules and compliance with the project and Quality Management System
 
Key Experience:
 
 
·10 years' experience preferably in the nuclear or highly regulated industry such as oil and gas and process sector. Good experience and background in turbine design, Turbine Balance of Plant and equipment design system.
·Good experience in similar roles with specific emphasis on FEED through to detailed design and EPC
·Strong technical background and broad experience in EPC power plant projects. With General mechanical or specialist piping, vessels, and mechanical handling systems.
·Excellent communication skills and ability to interact with internal and external stake holders
·Ability to identify and manage the critical interfaces on major projects.
·Good knowledge of UK Health and safety regulations, safety systems, HAZOP and engineering substantiation and technical standards
·Appreciation of CDM and construction processes
·Appreciation and application of  ASME, European  and UK codes and standards
Personal Specification/Attributes
 
·Result oriented, teamwork, ability to work independently and proactively as part of a team, good organisation skills, ability to deal with confidential and sensitive nuclear information in a professional manner and in-line with export control obligations.
·Systems Engineering awareness
·Bachelor's degree or Higher National Diploma in an engineering discipline
·Health and safety qualification such as IOSH or NEBOSH is desirable
·CEng in a relevant discipline or working towards Professional Registration
·SC Clearance or capable of achieving it
