Job description

Are you a Stock Condition Surveyor looking to work on a clearly defined portfolio where your surveys directly influence investment and compliance decisions?

Looking for a well-paid, OUTSIDE IR35 role where your expertise actually makes a difference to residents' homes?

Stock Condition Surveyor
Gosport, Hampshire
£35 per hour - Outside IR35
Full-time | Monday to Friday
Initial 6-month contract

Gosport Borough Council manages just over 3,000 council homes, all within a geographically compact borough on the south coast. That means short travel times, efficient site visits and more time doing what you do best.
You'll be based at the Town Hall in Gosport, working as part of a close-knit, friendly Property Services team made up of experienced surveyors and supportive colleagues. Ideally, you'll be office-based at least three days a week, with the flexibility to work from home on the remaining days where operationally suitable.

The Role
Due to a surge in demand, the council is undertaking a comprehensive programme to capture accurate stock condition data across the HRA portfolio. You'll play a key role in delivering high-quality surveys that directly inform investment, compliance and future works.
This is a hands-on surveying role, suited to someone confident working independently while contributing to a wider team objective.

What You'll Be Doing
·Carrying out stock condition surveys across council housing stock
·Recording findings accurately using digital surveying tools
·Applying your building surveying knowledge and HHSRS expertise
·Supporting the council during a critical period of data capture and compliance
·Working closely with Property Services colleagues to ensure timely delivery

What We're Looking For
·Proven experience as a Stock Condition Surveyor
·HHSRS qualification and strong understanding of residential buildings
·Confident using digital technology for inspections and reporting
·Enthusiastic, conscientious and professional in your approach
·Able to work from the Gosport Town Hall at least 3 days per week

The Contract
This is a temporary role, initially expected to last around 6 months, while the council procures and mobilises an external surveying programme. While no guarantees can be made, there is real potential for further opportunities to arise within Property Services during the contract period.

If you're looking for a well-paid, Outside IR35 surveying role with manageable geography, a welcoming team and work that genuinely supports local communities, this is one not to miss.
