Job description

Senior Development Control Engineer

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Highways Engineer to join a Council in the Home Counties in delivering high-quality highway and transport infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities:

·Develop technical solutions, manage design and construction stages, and ensure projects meet statutory requirements, Council standards, and safety regulations.
·Review and approve designs under Sections 38 and 278.
·Coordinate across engineering disciplines, ensuring seamless project delivery.
·Oversee consultants and junior staff, providing guidance and supervision.
·Ensure compliance with DMRB, Manual for Streets, TSRGD, and other relevant standards.
·Liaise with stakeholders to resolve issues and maintain project progress.
·Monitor project performance, risks, and compliance throughout delivery.

Requirements:

·Proven experience in UK highway design and maintenance.
·Strong knowledge of relevant design standards and highway adoption processes.
·Experience with surface water drainage and SuDS principles.
·Ability to lead projects, supervise staff, and manage multiple workstreams.
·Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
