Job description
A long-established and respected structural and civil engineering consultancy is seeking an experienced Senior Structural Engineer to join its growing team. The company has built a strong reputation over four decades for delivering engineering solutions across a broad range of sectors including commercial, education, residential, mixed-use, and sports & leisure.
This is an exciting opportunity for a technically strong and motivated professional to take a leading role in the delivery of structural design projects and to contribute to the continued growth of a highly regarded consultancy.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage structural engineering design across multiple projects
- Deliver high-quality technical outputs and ensure compliance with all relevant codes and standards
- Prepare, check, and approve design calculations, drawings, and technical documentation
- Coordinate effectively with clients, architects, and other design professionals
- Undertake site inspections and provide technical input during construction
- Supervise and mentor junior engineers, providing guidance and technical leadership
- Support business development activities, including preparing proposals and attending client meetings
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of design processes and quality systems
Key Requirements
- Chartered or near-Chartered Engineer (MIStructE or MICE) preferred
- Minimum of 6 years' experience in structural engineering consultancy
- Strong technical knowledge across all major materials (steel, concrete, timber, masonry, composites)
- Proven ability to deliver projects from concept to completion
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, with experience managing teams and client relationships
- Proficiency in structural analysis and design software, as well as AutoCAD or Revit
