Job description

An experienced Highways Quantity Surveyor is required on a long-term contract basis in Aylesbury. The role will be to support an NEC Project Manager in delivering the SEALR highway scheme and to support the Commercial Manager in reporting commercial matters. This is a long-term contract role that will require someone on-site in Aylesbury 4 days per week. There will be a 1-day discretionary working off-site depending on the commercial reporting cycle and day-to-day requirements.
 
This position falls inside IR35 and offers 40 hours per week with scope for overtime.

 
Main Responsibilities and Duties
 
·Support the Commercial Manager for attendance at monthly Commercial Meetings, Risk Reduction Meetings. Pre-Certification Meetings with the Contractor (GT) and other directly employed contractors. Attend such meetings where delegated by the Commercial Manager.
·Support the Commercial Manager in assessing the Contractor's monthly Applications and preparation od Payment Notices. 
·Support the Commercial Manager in the assessment of Compensation Events and liaise with the Programme Planner and wider team as necessary.
·Support the Commercial Manager in the assessment of monthly forecasts and applications.
·Collate data and agree with the Contractor's Representative the monthly performance data for the submission of Midland Highway Alliance (MHA) KPI data.
·Liaise with the Surveyors, Supervisor & Clerk of Works to confirm all staff, materials, plant and equipment on site agrees with the Contractor's assessment of Defined Costs.
·Undertake drawing take-offs and or site walkovers to confirm quantities used for the assessment of Defined Cost and keep robust records.
 
Qualifications & Experience
 
·BSc/BEng (Hons) or similar in Quantity Surveying
·Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (or similar).
·Experienced within the Highways sector.
·CSCS Cardholder
·Familiar with the MCHW - Method of Measurement for Highway Works and NEC Option C Contract.
·Driving License
 
Desirable
 
·Experienced in using CEMAR

·Ability to work within a team providing commercial support to the Commercial Manager.

·Able to form good working relationships with the Contractor's Commercial Team.
·Takes an interest in the wider engineering challenges for the scheme to be to take a pragmatic and solutions focused approach to assessments.
·Focused and questioning outlook to understand the physical significance of quantity surveying matters.
·Ability to work on own initiative and perform on-site inspections.
 
Reporting & Communication
 
·The Quantity Surveyor shall report directly to the Commercial Manager as part of the contract administration team. 
·The Quantity Surveyor shall be able to independently liaise with the Contractors commercial representative on all measurement measures.
