What we need:

Carrington West are pleased to be working with a local authority to find a Highway Design Engineer on a freelance basis. The job is OUTSIDE IR35 and is a hybrid working model. We are looking for talented and motivated individuals with a good working knowledge of the design of cycling, walking and small to medium highway improvement schemes that will enhance the efficiency and safety of the authorities road network.
 
In this role you will have an opportunity to be involved in a range of schemes from inception through to completion. Using your existing skills, you will design and deliver cost effective solutions in accordance with the relevant design standards.

What you will do:

Design (50%) - To propose solutions, agree modifications and prepare designs for highway schemes from inception through to detailed design to permit implementation and to direct the activities of Technicians.
Implementation (20%) - To prepare contract documents and to ensure the construction of works on site is to programme and within the project budget. To provide technical support throughout construction period.
Project Management (10%) - To plan and programme the activities and resources for small or non-complex schemes and thereafter implement, monitor and control progress to achieve completion to programme.
Financial Control (10%) -To prepare estimates and monitor and review project costs, including works and fees of internal and external consultants, to ensure completion within the agreed budgets.
Communication (10%) -To represent the Council at public meetings, carry out consultations on scheme proposals and to advise Councillors as necessary. To liaise with project client, project team, internal/external consultants, contractors and the general public, face to face, by telephone and by email. To prepare reports, as required.

What you will need to succeed:  

It is essential that candidates has the following
·Competent in preparation of highway design and contract documents using 3D models and Auto CAD drawings 
·Knowledge of current Health and Safety Legislation and CDM Regulations.
·Full driving licence (Pool vehicles are available, but own vehicles must be insured for work purposes).

Desirable that Candidates should have the following :
·Civil 3D v16 proficient
·AutoCAD proficient using AutoCAD 13
