Job Role: Estimator
Location: Bromsgrove/Hybrid

About the Company
A leading contractor working on multiple UK water authorities frameworks is seeking to bolster their commercial team with an Estimator based in their Bromsgrove office. Our client offers a unique end-to-end service, ranging from needs assessment and solution definition to design, manufacture, installation, commissioning, and aftercare of water and wastewater treatment assets.
 
Key Purpose
Prepare and submit tenders for Civil and MEICA non-infra water projects.
 
Main Tasks
·Project Analysis: Interpret project information, including construction methods, programme, and management.
·Risk Assessment: Identify potential risks and benefits.
·Team Liaison: Work with the Design/Delivery team for additional information and project requirements.
·Innovation: Evaluate and propose alternative methods and products.
·Supply Chain Management: Select subcontract/product packages, liaise with the supply chain, prepare enquiries, and analyse responses.
·Site Visits: Conduct site visits as required.
·Cost Estimation: Compile comprehensive net cost estimates, including preliminary items.
·Presentation: Prepare and present net cost estimates for internal adjudication.
·Tender Submission: Ensure timely submission of tenders, meeting all client requirements and specifications.
·Follow-Up: Follow up on submitted tenders.
·Scheme Overview: Provide overviews of schemes, highlighting risks and benefits.
·Commercial Strategy: Contribute to discussions on commercial approaches.
·Tender Conversion: Convert estimates to tenders.
·Programme Development: Develop/produce MS Project tender programmes and manpower histograms.
·Feedback Distribution: Distribute feedback to the team.
 
Skills/Knowledge
·Experience: Significant experience in Civil and MEICA contracting within the Construction or Water industry.
·Qualifications: Relevant academic or vocational qualifications (e.g., NVQ3 up to Degree level).
·Commercial Acumen: Strong commercial judgement.
·Analytical Skills: Ability to quickly digest tender information and meet strict deadlines.
·Problem Solving: Decision making and problem-solving skills.
·Communication: Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
·IT Proficiency: Appropriate IT skills, including the use of company software packages.
·Driving Licence: Possession of a current driving licence.
