Job description

Are you a senior design manager with experience working for tier one contractors?
 
Do you have extensive experience working on major complex infrastructure projects?
 
My client is one of the leading main contractors on HS2 and currently have a contract position to support their current design team.
 
Responsibilities:
 
Reporting to the Area West Senior Design Manager, you will be responsible for leading the design management of the West Ruislip Portal and Ruislip Golf Course design packages, ensuring the design is delivered to an acceptable standard of quality in-line with commercial and programme expectations.
 
The West Ruislip Portal is a reinforced concrete, porous portal structure, which is used in the temporary case to launch the two Northolt Tunnel West Tunnel Boring Machines.
 
Working with the Design House , you will forecast and plan the permanent works design delivery for your area. You will lead day-to-day interactions with internaland external interfaces, with the customer and third-party stakeholders . You will ensure the production of the design deliverables by the Design House meets the correct quality, contract, safety, time and cost requirements. You will also work closely with the other senior design managers, to ensure coordination of design elements throughout the contract and to identify change.

Design Review, Design Assurance, Change Control, Construction Interface, Reporting, Programme, Commercial, Procurement, CDM Reviews and Risk Register, RFIs, Departures, Project Risk, Interfaces, Rebar Detailing, Consents, CAT 3
 
Required Qualifications & Skills
 
·Degree level qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering or similar.
·Experience working in a similar capacity for a  tier 1 contractor on a major project is required
·Strong understanding of Engineering Principles
·Knowledge and Understanding of construction contract law and forms of contract through experience and formal training
·Extensive technical knowledge of construction techniques and best practices.
·Computer competence (MS Word, Excel, Document control systems).
·Relevant CSCS Card
·Training in Health & Safety and Environmental management
