Do you have proven experience as an Estimator within construction or civils?
Location: Lympne, Kent (hybrid after 6 months)
Salary: Up to £55,000 DOE
A civils contractor is seeking an experienced Estimator to join a well-established, multi-disciplinary construction business delivering projects across the construction, rail, and civils sectors.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing commercial team, supporting the preparation of accurate, competitive tenders across a range of building and infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will play a key role in analysing tender documentation, pricing works, and supporting bid submissions from initial enquiry through to final submission.
You will be responsible for producing detailed cost estimates, engaging with subcontractors and suppliers, and ensuring all submissions are commercially robust and aligned with client requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyse tender documentation and capture client requirements
- Produce accurate Bills of Quantities (BoQs) for pricing purposes
- Prepare and issue material and subcontractor enquiries
- Carry out site visits to inform pricing and tender submissions
- Build up rates and pricing, incorporating subcontractor and supplier quotes
- Produce competitive commercial submissions for internal review and sign-off
- Attend pre- and post-tender meetings
- Ensure compliance with current HSQE legislation, construction methods, and best practices
- Work collaboratively with internal teams to deliver high-quality tender submissions
Essential:
- Proven experience as an Estimator within construction or civils
- Strong knowledge of measurement methods (e.g., CESSM3, SMM7, Highways Method of Measurement)
- Experience pricing traditional and design & build contracts
- Working knowledge of NEC3 and/or JCT contracts
- Strong numerical, analytical, and commercial skills
Desirable:
- Experience across rail or infrastructure projects
- Understanding of programmes and project sequencing
- Knowledge of construction materials and plant requirements
