Job description
To oversee and manage a network of public access routes, including handling legal processes for route changes, maintaining official records and mapping systems, improving access strategies, engaging with stakeholders, and responding to public enquiries.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the delivery and updating of access improvement plans, ensuring projects progress on time and align with local policies.
- Maintain comprehensive and accurate records of public routes, including digital databases and mapping systems, for easy accessibility and reporting.
- Manage route modification requests, closures, diversions, and legal processes, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and procedures.
- Respond promptly to public and stakeholder enquiries, carry out site inspections, and provide clear guidance to landowners, developers, and community groups.
- Collaborate with internal teams, external agencies, and local partners to ensure smooth service delivery and successful implementation of access initiatives
Key Skills and Experience:
- Strong understanding of legislation, procedures, and best practices relating to public rights of way and access management.
- Excellent administrative and organisational skills, including managing records, databases, reports, and filing systems accurately.
- Clear and professional communication skills for engaging with the public, stakeholders, and colleagues, and preparing formal reports and correspondence.
- Problem-solving skills and the ability to assess requests, prioritise work, and resolve issues efficiently while maintaining service standards.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team, manage multiple tasks, and adapt to changing operational requirements.
This role requires local knowledge and constant visits to sites.
