Salary
Principal: £60,000 – £70,000
Associate: £68,000 – £80,000
Location: London office, located near Blackfriars (minimum 2 days in office)
I’m working exclusively with a well-established multidisciplinary engineering consultancy to appoint a Principal or Associate Structural Engineer into their growing rail structures team in London. The business has built an excellent reputation for delivering complex engineering and infrastructure projects across the UK, operating across structural engineering, civil engineering and infrastructure services within sectors such as transport, rail and the built environment.
You will join a close-knitrailstructuresteam delivering structural design, assessments and infrastructure upgrade projects across the UK rail network. With a strong pipeline of frameworks and project work, the team is looking to strengthen its senior capability to support delivery and mentor a growing group of engineers, graduates and apprentices.
This is a highlytechnicalrole, requiring strong engineering fundamentals, confidence undertaking structural calculations and the ability to review designs across a variety of structural forms and materials.
Essential Requirements
• Chartered Engineer with ICE or IStructE
• Strong structural engineering fundamentals and ability to undertake hand calculations
• Experience delivering complex civil engineering projects
• Excellent understanding of engineering standards and design principles
• Experience supporting or mentoring junior engineers
• Experience contributing to bids, tenders or technical proposals
• Experience working on bridges or heavy civil structures
Desirable Experience
• Rail experience
• Structural inspections and assessments
You will work across a wide range of rail infrastructure projects including:
• Structural design and assessment of rail bridges and complex structures
• Station capacity upgrades and infrastructure improvement works
• Retaining structures and enabling works
• Depot extensions and portal frame structures
• Footbridges, staircases and lift structures as part of accessibility schemes
• Structural examinations and inspections of rail assets
• Major structural assessments including trusses and historic cast-iron structures
• Temporary works and demolition design associated with rail infrastructure projects
