Exciting Opportunity for a Waste Operations Technician in Leicestershire
An excellent opportunity has arisen for a technically-minded Waste Operations Technician to join my client's Recycling & Household Waste team on a contract basis, supporting the effective operation of RHWSs (Recycling & Household Waste Sites) and Waste Transfer Stations across Leicestershire. This position is offered on an initial contract basis with the potential for extension.
The main duties of the Waste Operations Technician are:
·Using Excel to collate, analyse and report on operational and waste management data
·Working with weighbridge software to input, check and validate waste movement data
·Using H&S incident recording software to log, track and help monitor health and safety events
·Maintaining and updating the waste management data system to ensure accurate and timely reporting
·Supporting managers with data returns, performance reporting and compliance monitoring
·Attending Whetstone RHWS & WTS and County Hall as required, with occasional visits to other RHWSs and WTSs
·Working from home for part of the week, subject to being able to work efficiently and effectively remotely
·Contributing to continuous improvement of data quality, systems use and reporting processes
The Waste Operations Technician will have key experience in:
·Strong Excel skills, including handling large datasets and using formulas to analyse information
·Confidence in quickly learning new software packages and systems
·Experience working with operational, technical or compliance data (ideally in a waste, environmental or similar setting)
·High attention to detail and accuracy when inputting and checking data
·Good understanding of health & safety principles and incident recording (desirable)
·Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
·Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with site-based and office-based colleagues
