Job description

Our client has a fantastic opportunity for a Technician or Senior Technician in Transport Planning or Infrastructure to join their team in Bristol.
 
The successful candidate will be working with an established team to produce designs, calculations and drawings to accompany planning applications and/or for construction in all major sectors in particular residential, retail, industrial and commercial developments. You will report to the Senior or Principal Engineer / Transport Planner and will be expected to actively contribute to several work sectors, projects and client accounts at any given time.
 
Candidates will need to demonstrate that they have the following:
 
- HNC in Civil Engineering or a degree qualification in a related subject (Transport Planning, Geography, Maths, Engineering)
- Relevant experience in either transport planning, highway engineering, or general development infrastructure design
- A good understanding of highway design principles using Manual for Streets, DMRB, and Local Authority highway design standards.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD in a transport planning and /or highway design environment is essential.
- To be able to prepare highway drawings and calculations for both private and adoptable arrangements applying the principles, design codes and standards set out in DMRB, Manual for Streets and Local Authority Design Guides.
- A great team player with the ability to work well with team members at all levels in producing designs and drawings.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to converse in a professional manner.
- Computer literate with good IT skills in Word, Excel, Outlook etc
 
Other beneficial skills/requirements, but are not essential:
 
- Aspirations to or be already working towards IEng status or equivalent with a relevant professional body (e.g. ICE, CIHT).
- Working knowledge of 3D highway and ground modelling using Site3D and/or Civils 3D.
- Drainage design experience using Microdrainage or similar.
- Awareness of the legal, planning and technical consent processes, and adoption and contract procedures for the provision of new and/or upgraded roads and sewers.
- Flood Risk Assessment experience.
