Job Title: Town Planning Policy Manager
Location: Cheltenham
Job Type: Full-Time - Hybrid working
Cheltenham Borough Council is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Planning Policy Manager to join their dynamic team and play a crucial role in guiding the growth and development of our beautiful town.

Role Overview:
As the Planning Policy Manager, you will be responsible for leading and coordinating the development and implementation of the Council's planning policies. Your work will have a direct impact on shaping the local area's future, ensuring that Cheltenham remains an attractive, inclusive, and sustainable place to live, work, and visit.
 
Key Responsibilities:
 
Develop and review planning policies and strategies in line with national guidelines, local needs, and sustainability objectives.
Lead and manage a team of planning policy officers, providing guidance, support, and fostering professional development.
Engage with stakeholders, including local communities, businesses, and developers, to ensure their input is considered in the policy-making process.
Monitor policy implementation and evaluate its effectiveness, making necessary adjustments to achieve desired outcomes.
Collaborate with other departments within the Council to ensure coordinated and integrated planning efforts.
Represent the Council at public meetings, inquiries, and other events related to planning policy matters.
 
Required Qualifications and Skills:
A degree in Urban Planning, Town Planning, Geography, or a related field.
Significant experience in planning policy development and implementation, ideally within a local authority setting.
Strong knowledge of planning legislation, national policy frameworks, and best practices.
Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate others.
Effective communication and negotiation abilities, with experience in engaging with diverse stakeholders.
Sound analytical and problem-solving skills, enabling data-driven decision-making.
