Job Description - Technician (Construction Materials/Highways)
 
Role Responsibility:
 
The Technical Assistant role at our dynamic construction materials company offers a unique blend of hands-on training and university education, making it an ideal launching pad for individuals aspiring to forge a long-term career in the construction materials/highways sector. This position is crucial in implementing a succession plan within our technical team.
 
Reporting directly to the Technical Manager, the Technical Assistant will be involved in various managerial aspects, ensuring effective unit and product quality control in alignment with Health & Safety and technical specification requirements. The role requires seamless liaison and teamwork with the area operational and commercial teams.
 
Key Responsibilities:
 
Prioritize Health & Safety as the number one priority.
Implement full and effective testing processes in accordance with standards and accreditation.
Identify quality issues and initiate corrective actions.
Organize the technical team efficiently, meeting all business requirements.
Optimize products in terms of cost and performance.
Provide support to Contracting on major contracts within the region.
Collaborate with operational teams to address slow-moving stock and mineral-related product issues.
Monitor and assist operations in meeting compliance and consistency criteria to ensure products conform.
Ensure adherence to all technical operational systems in accordance with quality control plans/procedures and Sox compliance where required.
Assist with investigations into complaints and make recommendations for improvements.
Provide external commercial team support to key customers.
Be accountable for the Technical Dashboard.
Support the internal sales department.
Assist the technical management team in all aspects of performance management.
 
The Ideal Candidate:
 
The successful candidate should possess the following qualifications and attributes:
 
Including at least two A/AS levels at grade C or above.
Five GCSEs at grades 4 (C) or above, including Math's, English, and Science.
A full UK driving license.
