Role: Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) specialist - Part time
Location: Home based initially
Rate: Negotiable
Hours: 20-25 per week this can be spread over 3-5 days
Start Date: 1/3/2021
My client is looking for a Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) specialist to join them on a part time basis initially
Responsibilities include:
·The candidate should expect to carry out work in the following areas:
·Supporting Hampshire County Council's Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) team in delivery of aspects of Strategic Environmental Assessments (SEA) projects.
·Provision of technical input including data collection and assessment, and the assessment of policies and site allocations against the agreed SEA Framework objectives.
·Provision of project support functions in the production of an Environmental Report (SEA) and other environmental reports as may be required.
·Provision of GIS and mapping support, using ArcGIS mapping software.
·Work directly with internal technical specialists to deliver the requirements of SEAs or work areas.
·Assist in project management functions for the team including monitoring and recording hours on projects, preparing cost reports.
Skills and Experience:
·Experience in writing and producing Strategic Environmental Assessments (SEAs), preferably with experience in SEA for Local Plans and in site assessments.
·Degree level qualification in relevant environmental discipline.
·Preferably a member of IEMA or similar professional body.
·Good understanding of the principles and application of planning policies and environmental legislation.
·Good written and verbal communication skills (including report writing).
·Proficient in using GIS, basic digitisation map preparation and the creation of simple figures.
Working conditions
·TBC* While Covid-19 working conditions are in place, the role involves working remotely. Potential for more office-based work once working restrictions are lifted.
·Communicating daily (for days worked) with the team and project lead.
·Hours 20 per week, this can be done flexibly over 3-5 days a week.
·Contract start date March 2021.
·Contract duration 3 months.
