An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Site Engineer to come and join a busy client in the Manchester area.

Working within the Highways Planned Maintenance team, the postholder will oversee highway resurfacing and specialist surface treatment schemes on site, helping to manage an annual programme valued between £12m and £40m. The role involves supervising contractors, monitoring construction quality, and ensuring projects are delivered in accordance with specifications, budgets, and programme requirements.

The main duties of the experienced Site Engineer are:

• Supervise highway resurfacing and planned maintenance works on site across Manchester's highway network.
• Monitor contractor activities to ensure works are delivered safely, on programme, and to the required quality standards.
• Inspect carriageway and footway works including resurfacing, patching, and reconstruction.
• Ensure compliance with relevant highways specifications, standards, and health & safety regulations.
• Assist in the delivery of the council's annual planned maintenance programme, which includes resurfacing and preventative treatments.
• Support engineers in coordinating and managing schemes within the programme.
• Monitor progress of works and provide updates on programme delivery and performance.
• Act as the council's site representative, liaising with contractors, suppliers, and internal teams.
• Attend site meetings and coordinate works with relevant stakeholders.
• Assist in resolving on-site issues to ensure minimal disruption to the highway network.
