Job Title: SHEQ Advisor - Rail and Highways Projects

Position Summary: As a SHEQ Advisor, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and compliant execution of rail and highways projects. You will be responsible for implementing and monitoring safety, health, environment, and quality policies and procedures, in line with industry standards and regulations. Working closely with project teams, you will provide expert advice, conduct audits and inspections, and facilitate continuous improvement initiatives to promote a positive SHEQ culture.

Key Responsibilities:
·Implement and maintain effective SHEQ management systems and processes across rail and highways projects.
·Provide expert guidance and support to project teams, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, regulations, and industry best practices.
·Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify potential hazards, risks, and non-compliance issues, and develop and implement corrective actions.
·Promote a culture of safety and environmental stewardship, fostering employee engagement and awareness through training, toolbox talks, and initiatives.
·Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses, identifying root causes and implementing preventive measures.
·Monitor project performance against SHEQ objectives, providing reports and recommendations for improvement to management.
·Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to develop project-specific risk assessments, method statements, and safety plans.
·Liaise with regulatory authorities, clients, and stakeholders regarding SHEQ matters, ensuring effective communication and compliance.
·Stay up to date with industry developments, regulatory changes, and emerging trends in SHEQ management.
Qualifications and Requirements:
·Proven experience as a SHEQ Advisor, preferably in the rail or highways sector.
·Recognized qualification in Health and Safety (e.g., NEBOSH) and additional certifications in Environment and Quality are desirable.
·In-depth knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, and standards (e.g., CDM, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001) within the rail and highways industry.
·Experience in conducting SHEQ inspections, audits, incident investigations, and risk assessments.
·Excellent understanding of project management principles, with the ability to integrate SHEQ requirements into project plans and processes.
·Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
·Proactive mindset, with the ability to identify areas for improvement and drive change initiatives.
·Proficiency in using relevant software and tools for SHEQ management.
·Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites across London and the surrounding areas.
