Job description

Job Purpose
 
The Senior Engineer provides technical support to Project Team leader / members and has a number of key responsibilities such as:
 
·Effective management of projects, assuming day to day control and ensuring budget constraints and timescales are adhered to;
·Undertaking and completing delegated tasks as assigned by Project Manager to a good professional standard within required timescales;
·Advising the Project Manager when problems arise or when timescales are in jeopardy;
·Production of TAs TSs and Transport Notes and overseeing the production of TPs, AAs etc;
·Delegating certain tasks to Engineers and Technicians, assisting in the coaching of less experienced staff and ;
·Attendance at meetings and public exhibitions;
·Liaison and negotiation with, project team and planning and highways officers and company planning, engagement, delivery etc., teams; and
·Building client relationships and inputting into the preparation of fee proposals.
 
Qualifications, Skills and Attributes
 
Working knowledge of:
 
·Planning system and processes
·National and local Transport Planning Policy (e.g. NPPG, NPPF, the London Plan, etc.)
·Microsoft Office and Excel.
·Adobe Acrobat Reader and Pro
·TRICS
·Census Data Analysis (travel to work/car ownership data)
Understanding of:
 
·AutoCAD (including Autotrack);
·Department for Transport Standards (e.g. DMRB, MfS, etc);
·TEMPRO
·Junctions 9 and LINSIG
·Census Data Analysis (Origin & Destination)
Skills:
 
·Excellent team worker with ability to delegate.
·Excellent written and oral communication skills.
·Excellent professional and problem solving skills.
