Carrington West are assisting their local authority client based in London in their search for a Town Planning Specialist to join their Development Management team on a 3 month rolling contract - Fully Remote

We are looking for an experienced qualified town planner to assist in a Development Management Team, with previous experience working in a Local Authority Development Management Team. The role will involve processing planning applications and pre-application enquiries, discharge of conditions, amendment applications and other related duties. Experience of dealing with Major Planning Applications is essential.

The ideal candidate will also need:

• Experience of effective consultation techniques
• Detailed knowledge of relevant Town Planning legislation, practice and government guidance
• Commitment to keep up to date with professional knowledge, expertise and best practice
• Good IT skills
• Able to draft reports and documents in a clear and concise manner
• Good written and verbal presentation and communication skills
• Well developed negotiating and advocacy skills
• Able to work well in a pressurised and sometimes difficult environment
• Experience of responding to changing priorities, meeting deadlines and maintain high quality services
• A high level of analytical, verbal and numeric reasoning skills
• Undertake unaccompanied site visits as appropriate

It would be beneficial although not mandatory to hold a RTPI accredited Planning Degree or equivalent Planning qualification and/or have considerable experience in a similar position; and also hold a licentiate membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute (or equivalent)
