Are you an experienced leader in project management within the housing sector? Southwark Construction is seeking a dynamic individual to fill the role of Senior Project Manager.
As the Senior Project Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the delivery of new homes programmes, leading a team of skilled project managers, and reporting directly to the Strategic Lead. Your expertise will be crucial in ensuring that our projects benefit the community and enhance council services.
Key Responsibilities:
1.Lead the delivery of new homes programmes, providing strategic direction to achieve significant social value.
2.Manage individual schemes and a portfolio of projects within the new homes portfolio, ensuring commercial benefits and maximized returns.
3.Develop and implement effective contract management strategies to ensure cost-effective and customer-focused delivery.
4.Drive performance management to improve project quality and stakeholder relationships.
5.Provide strategic leadership in evaluating contract types, procurement methods, and consultants, recommending changes for improvement.
6.Implement technical policies and procedures compliant with statutory requirements, overseeing specialist consultants as needed.
7.Resolve escalated contract disputes and manage risks effectively.
8.Engage with internal and external stakeholders to secure support for programme objectives.
9.Contribute to the strategic management of the housing department and support business planning processes.
10.Establish a management regime that promotes resident involvement and prioritizes equality and diversity.
Job Context:
This role reports to the Strategic Lead within Southwark Construction and involves managing a team of Project Managers and a programme of new homes and estate rebuilding schemes. You will collaborate closely with other council departments to achieve positive housing solutions.
Requirements:
·Educated to degree level or equivalent, with relevant professional qualifications.
·Extensive experience in managing strategic projects and programmes in housing, development, or regeneration.
·Proficiency in financial management, procurement policies, and resource management.
·Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
·Ability to interpret contracts and legal documentation effectively.
