An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experience Senior Highway Engineer to come and join a Highways Division in the Isle of Man.

About the role:

• This role has a unique opportunity to shape road safety and active travel within the Department of Infrastructure at a time of considerable change in mobility choices.
• As this role sits within the Highway Services Division, you will also benefit from exposure to broader legislative and delivery of the Island's Transport System.

• You will also be championing vision zero and safe systems active travel, where resilience is a key factor we're looking for to be successful in this role.

The main duties of the experience Senior Highway Engineer are:

• To deliver specialist, professional, highway engineering, traffic management and road safety policy advice to the Department , other Departments and the Road Safety Partnership on national and international policies and programmes.
•  Identify and assess necessary traffic management and road safety interventions and prioritise interventions with regard to the Active Travel Strategy and Road Safety Strategy.
• To keep abreast of changes to and maintain an awareness of national and international agendas with regard to highway engineering, road safety and mobility ensuring that consideration of these are incorporated into strategies , plans and other policy development activities undertaken and at all times observe best practice in the performance of duties.
•  Engagement with stakeholders in developing traffic management and road safety schemes.
•  Prepare briefs for commissioning consultants, and monitor their work to ensure compliance with the agreed brief and financial constraints.
•  Evaluate the outcomes of policy and schemes to validate effectiveness.
