Project Manager
 
We have an exciting new role for someone who is passionate, experienced and interested in being apart of a company who are a large, established organisation and the leading providers of infrastructure services, construction and property development.
 
Our client has been appointed to undertake cable and electrical infrastructure projects across the Southern and Eastern Power Networks (SPN & EPN). This role will be primarily based in Crawley or Maidstone and consist of work on developing schemes in the design, costing and pre-construction phases.
 
Accountabilities
 
·Oversee concept designs and cost plans against UKPN requirements to enable progress through Gates A-B-C
·Compile PEPs, budgets and programmes to pass approval at Gate B
·Undertake estimates from first principles and CUs in accordance with the McNicholas Way
·Issue completed packs in accordance with guidelines and procedures, by the due deadlines
·Illustrate proposals clearly, concisely & confidently to show all assumptions / calculations regarding; outputs, labour, plant, materials, management, site set up and subcontract elements.
·Organise, manage and contribute to 'Risk & Opportunity' schedules, meetings and work-shops.
·Engage and obtain outline specialist sub-contractor / material quotes
·Contribute to the construction of outline tender programmes (P6 programme created by others)
·Input to 'tender settlement' packs in line with McNicholas Way procedures.
·Endeavour to develop relationships with client - maximise opportunities and profit, where possible.
·Undertake site meetings / surveys, on occasion - with operations or alone
·Attend and effectively contribute to pre-tender / negotiation meetings
·Produce comprehensive ADPs for consideration by the AMT at Gate C
·Maintain an appropriate awareness of changing criteria's regarding; statutory requirements / new legislation, including NEC3, the Alliance Agreement and Bilateral Agreement terms and conditions, UKPN standards and HAUC specifications
·Manage or undertake other activities and tasks in developing estimating / business development that may be deemed necessary to meet the ongoing or changing needs of the business.
·Lead, motivate, support & develop the in-house delivered design, including associated site survey and investigation activities, to engender a constructive, problem solving, high achieving attitude matched by results.
·Manage all design and operational aspects (site surveys, site investigations etc.) of specific projects ensuring that they are on time, within planned costs, to the specifications and drawings and profitable to the agreed standard.
·Effectively manage customer & client relationships, playing an integral part in the preparation & presentation to the customer of company technical & commercial benefits.
·Effectively manage third party stakeholder relationships during the pre-construction stage of specific projects to obtain permissions, consents, approvals etc. required to enable successful project delivery following completion of the pre-construction stage contract
·Work closely with the Estimating team to contribute to the preparation of accurate project estimates and bid documentation, as required.
·Work closely with the planning team to ensure successful planning of the sequence of the work, establishment of key dates and the workforce required.
·Ensure that all Health, Safety, Quality & Environmental requirements pertaining to the pre-construction contract are in place and monitored.
·Work with the Commercial team on all Professional Services Contract related issues e.g. variations, interim progress applications for payment on account for the services, negotiation and agreement of the final account, subcontractor accounts.
·Organise the pre-construction teams, their workload & work effectively with the required support
·Monitor and ensure that the work of direct and sub-contract resource is being carried out to specification and programme, ensuring that defects are remedied and managed within the scope of the contract terms.
·Attainment of relevant targets and business goals, maximising contract profitability.
·Production of reports, presentations and drawings/designs as required
 
Essential
 
·A broad knowledge of project design development, including cabling, equipment, sub-station and associated civils/building works, in both substations and highways
·Ability to oversee estimate costs and programme durations for projects
·General understanding of the Consents process and timescales
·Strong analytical and technical
 
Desirable
 
·Has sufficient experience and ability to 'hit the ground running', with little assistance
·Civil/Electrical background / education / qualifications
·Experience of UK Power Networks standards, procedures and working practices
·Working within similar collaborative alliances
·UK driving licence.
