Job Role - Project Engineer

Location - Hinkley

Contract Length - 12 Months

Pay Rate - £38.08 Umbrella (Inside IR35)

I am working for a public sector client who is looking for a qualified project engineer to join the decommissioning team on a nuclear site. The right candidate will ideally have past experience in decommissioning and have held the position of project engineer.

Key Duties:

  • Identify project functional requirements and stakeholder needs for assigned project.
  • Manage engineering support to the project.
  • Contribute to production of Project Execution Plans including design, safety case and commissioning strategies.
  • Support project optioneering process.
  • Develop concept design and fit for purpose engineering solution for projects.
  • Manage detailed design activities in accordance with design authority standards.
  • Prepare modification proposals as required, acting as Nominated Responsible Engineer where appointed.
  • Carry out technical assessment/approval of contractors work instruction/method statements/risk assessments.
  • Provide technical supervision of construction/deconstruction activities to ensure compliance with design intent.

Minimum requirements:

  • Project Engineer - Design background
  • Engineering design work and implementing it.
  • Create a technical specification
  • Process/Mechanical disciplines
  • Nuclear background, Rail or oil background could also work
  • Appropriate HNC, National Qualifications Framework (NQF) level 5; preferably degree level (NQF level 6) or working towards

This role is in the UK nuclear industry and will therefore require UK nuclear site clearances so please bare this in mind when applying
