Job description

Do you have extensive experience in Highways Asset Management and leading on a range of projects? My client are currently looking for a Principal Consultant to join their team on a permanent basis to work on some interesting national and international projects. The team are based in Nottingham but the Associate Director is happy for the successful candidate to be based anywhere in the UK to work remotely and office space will be available for you at the nearest office.
The UK based Strategic Consultancy team undertakes a wide range of technical management consultancy projects and the project portfolio is continuously growing. The teams key current clients are Dubai RTA, Highways England and Saudi Arabia Ministry of Transport. The range is diverse and includes national and private asset owners and operators, infrastructure construction organisations and environmental agencies. Opportunity to travel overseas will be available when current restrictions are lifted.

There are opportunities to be involved in a range of projects from providing advice on winter maintenance to developing a sand strategy.
Job Responsibilities:
·Lead a range of Highway Asset Management, Transport Policy, Strategy and Safety and Sustainability & Resilience projects
·Source, review, collate and report information from a variety of sources
·Create and facilitate workshops and presentations
·Provide technical advice and support to high profile clients
·Contribute at a strategic level to clients' requirements
·Develop innovative bespoke solutions on a project-by-project basis
·Demonstrate capability and judgment in the performance of tasks
·Apply appropriate standards and technology in the performance of tasks
Minimum Requirements
·Extensive experience of working with government transport based clients (e.g. DfT, Highways England, Network Rail, London Underground, TfL, Transport Scotland, Office of Rail Regulation, Rail Safety and Standards Board, local authorities), or in a research establishment (including well respected universities).
Extensive demonstrable experience in:
·Operations and maintenance of Highways and Bridges;
·O&M process, procedure and performance requirements;
·Asset management including highways inspection, assessment of maintenance and renewal programmes including financial modelling and risk analysis;
·Maintenance contracts and specifications;
·Experience of providing engineering / technical management consultancy/research advice to such clients
·Ability to research and develop solutions, best practices, new technologies and exhibiting innovative solution thinking/
·Knowledge of lean principles
·Knowledge of the key issues and opportunities facing transportation in the UK
·Experience of and ability to identify new opportunities and clients and contribute positively to the diversification of Strategic Consultancy's project and client portfolio
·A willingness to travel abroad, as required to meet business needs
Preferred Qualifications
·Degree / HND / HNC, ideally in a transport or civil engineering related discipline
·Ideally Chartered in a relevant institution (e.g. ICE, MCIHT) but not essential for candidates that can demonstrate extensive practical experience
