Principal Engineer- Highway Maintenance
 
Are you an experienced Highway Maintenance professional looking for a new opportunity?
 
A full-time permanent opportunity has become available to join the strategic maintenance team within our clients Transport Department in Bristol.
 
The Principal Engineer will help promote, plan, organise, manage, and deliver on all Highway Maintenance projects.  They will be responsible for the effective management and development for the delivery of allocated annual capital programmes and budgets within the Strategic Maintenance Team.
 
Key job outcomes/accountabilities
- Attend formal contract management meetings with suppliers and other Officers in Transport as agreed and in compliance with Corporate standards. Records of performance reviews to be maintained on corporate systems.
- To provide technical advice and assistance across the team, to ensure that projects are delivered to a high quality, efficiently, while meeting the required standards and specification.
- To create reports and statistics are prepared for senior management team, Members and other stakeholders covering all aspects of service performance.
- To ensure the service performance of specific aspects of service delivery are monitored to ensure consistent cost effective and high-quality services.
 
Key job outcomes/accountabilities
- Responsible for ensuring effective and productive relationships with suppliers, senior officers and Members are created and maintained to ensure service delivery objectives and targets are achieved.
- To ensure that all contracts are reviewed periodically for financial performance and opportunities to increase savings.
- Responsible for ensuring that contractual clauses are reviewed and interpreted with support from Legal Services.
- To ensure that all work with suppliers is facilitated and developed to ensure that departmental change programmes and Service Improvement Plans are delivered effectively.
