Our client has a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Survey to join the team as a Lead Surveyor.
The role involves leading a team to provide specialist engineering survey services to enable the design and construction of engineering projects by internal and external clients as part of our client's Consultancy function.
 
Main accountabilities
·Effectively manage available resources and capacity within the team to ensure successful delivery of the teams work programme.
·Manage the provision and delivery of specialist engineering survey and utility survey project delivery which may be complex and significant to achieve quality, programme and financial targets meeting customer and stakeholder requirements.
·Manage the provision and delivery of specialist utility and site engineering service to support
construction delivery, ensuring that projects are constructed accurately, maximising productivity and efficient use of resources on site by internal and external clients.
·Manage the provision of service area to colleagues, clients or third parties to support delivery of projects across the organisation that may be complex and large-scale.
·Identify development and market opportunities to contribute to the growth of the team service thereby supporting achievement of business plan objectives.
·Ensure Health and Safety management systems, processes and requirements are adhered to
across the team, ensuring full adherence to health, safety and environmental legislation, policy and best practice to protect people and the environment.
·Lead, coach, and develop team members to achieve their potential and to deliver effective business results.
·Hold team members to account to comply with internal and external standards of statutory responsibilities, duties, policies and procedures to ensure standards are met to maintain a consistent and high-quality service.
 
Knowledge, skills and abilities:
·Degree in Surveying or a related subject with post qualification experience or equivalent knowledge gained through practical experience in an engineering environment.
·Demonstrable expertise across the team's technical disciplines including:
1.All commonly used types of metric survey instrumentation including digital levels, total stations, GNSS and laser scanners electromagnetic utility survey instruments including
2.Electromagnetic locators and ground penetrating radar
3.Survey data processing workflows including the orientation, integration, resampling and processing of field data and the modelling of and calculations related to 3D surface models
4.Industry best practice.
·Ability to lead a team in a busy environmental services team, to make decisions and solve problems to meet team objectives and operational targets and be able to prioritise available team resources to meet the needs of the business
·Excellent interpersonal skills to gain agreement and acceptance of others including colleagues, senior managers and clients. Ability to work collaboratively and actively involve colleagues and members of the team.
·Strong ICT skills including competence in specialist computer applications used to support engineering design activities including working knowledge of current computer aided design and GIS software packages.
·Thorough working knowledge of health and safety, technical, planning and other legislation and good practice appropriate to provision of engineering survey.
·Proven experience of providing information, communicating and working collaboratively with internal and external customers, stakeholders and colleagues to achieve delivery objectives.
·Proven experience of financial monitoring and control across a range of projects.
·Proven experience of all stages of project implementation from feasibility to construction on site.
·A high level of personal drive and commitment to excellent customer care and the ability to set an example to other staff.
·Ability to undertake regular site visits and to carry heavy equipment across areas of uneven and difficult terrain, and a Full driving licence that is valid for the UK.
