The role is to lead a multidisciplinary team in delivery of landscape design, environmental projects and assessment services to internal and external clients as part of the Environmental Consultancy
Service.
 
Main accountabilities:
·Manage available resources and capacity within the team to ensure successful delivery of the teams work programme, there by achieving client expectation, company business plan objectives and supporting company-wide design and build functions.
·Design and manage the delivery of projects across landscape design, urban design, landscape planning and ecology functions which may be complex and significant to achieve quality, programme and financial targets meeting customer and stakeholder requirements.
·Manage the provision of specialist technical expertise in delivery of landscape planning and ecology functions as part of planning process, which may include provision of expert witness role at inquiry, to achieve compliance with legislation, national and local policies
·Manage the provision of specialist landscape design and ecological input to colleagues, clients or third parties to support delivery of complex and large-scale projects across the organisation or externally.
·Ensure Health and Safety management systems, processes and requirements are adhered to across the team, ensuring full adherence to health, safety and environmental legislation, policy and best practice to protect people and the environment.
·Identify development and market opportunities to contribute to the growth of the team service thereby supporting achievement of business plan objectives.
·Monitor staff performance, coach and act as a mentor developing technical expertise of team members to assist with achieving individual performance targets and future potential.
·Hold team members to account to comply with internal and external standards of statutory responsibilities, duties, policies and procedures to ensure standards are met to maintain a consistent and high-quality service
·Manage consultation, communication and liaison with clients and a wide range of internal and external stakeholders including members of the public, elected Members and professional networks to facilitate project delivery and maintain a positive company reputation.
 
Knowledge, skills and abilities:
·Relevant degree and Chartership of the Landscape Institute or equivalent post qualification
experience / knowledge gained through practical experience in a design consultancy and ongoing CPD requirements eligible for Chartership
·Ability to lead a team in a busy design consultancy, to make decisions and solve problems to meet team objectives and operational targets and be able to prioritise available team resources to meet the needs of the business
·Excellent interpersonal skills to gain agreement and acceptance of others including colleagues, senior managers and clients. Ability to work collaboratively and actively involve colleagues and members of the team.
·Strong ICT skills including competence in specialist computer applications used to support engineering design activities including working knowledge of current computer aided design
and GIS software packages
·Thorough working knowledge of design standards appropriate to landscape design and environmental improvement schemes.
·Thorough working knowledge of procurement practices used in design and construction, including forms of tender, conditions of contract and forms of partnership.
·Thorough working knowledge of health and safety, technical, planning and other legislation and good practice appropriate to hard/soft landscape projects and landscape planning
·Proven experience of providing information, communicating and working collaboratively with internal and external customers, stakeholders and colleagues to achieve delivery objectives
·Proven experience of financial monitoring and control across a range of projects.
·Proven experience of all stages of project implementation from feasibility to construction on site
·A high level of personal drive and commitment to excellent customer care and the ability to set an example to other staff.
