Highways Safety Inspector
Carrington West are delighted to be supporting a local District Council in Essex to recruit a temporary Highways Safety Inspector on a 3-month basis. Please note that this post requires the successful individual to travel around the region for site visits.
The role:
This role will involve conducting highways safety inspections of unadopted roads and footpaths owned by the Council according to an inspection schedule. You will be required to complete those inspections in line with the schedule and liaise with contractors to arrange for any repair works in line with the risk assessment matrix of the highway strategy. For repair works, you will need to complete a job pack (pre-construction information, utility stat plans), request for purchase orders and process invoices upon completion.
Main Responsibilities:
·To carry out inspections on built assets and infrastructure (to include unadopted highway and drainage networks) and maintain records on their condition
·Carry out Inspections and record the condition of Council owned built assets and infrastructure to ensure it is maintained in a condition to meet legislative standards
·Complete accurate records of inspections to identify defective areas as per schedule of inspection for unadopted highways, drainage and street lighting
·To prepare the necessary documentation for monitoring and recording infrastructure condition to assist with keeping the Council's records up to date
·To carry out post-inspections of repair works to monitor the standard and quality of work carried out
·To assist with the identification of works for the future programmes as appropriate
·Collate information associated with condition of assets, especially in respect of public complaints or claims.
·Deal with day-to-day requests for information and service requests
·Meet with customers to discuss problems and provide advice on standards that can reasonably be expected Following enquiries carry out investigations into complaints
·Maintain and update computer data based and manual records
·Inspect empty properties periodically in line with the Councils insurance conditions
·To assist with the management and compliance with insurance processes
·Attend site following reports of damage to ensure any emergency works are carried out and the site is left in a safe and secure condition. Liaise and report damage to the police and fire services as required
The experience you will bring:
·Ideal candidates will be qualified in Highway Safety Inspection - C & G 6033 Units 301 & 311 but we are happy to consider similar qualifications
·You will be required to use your own vehicle to attend site visits throughout the week and be of a reasonable physical fitness as some assessments will be walked
·PPE and data collecting equipment will be provided by the Council
