Project Engineer - Highway Telecoms
 
Role Profile:
Reporting to the Regional Project Manager, the Project Engineer (Midlands) will assist the Regional Project Manager regarding field operations, construction and Capture Requirements and Plan (CRP) contract processes.  The Project Engineer is responsible for assisting in achieving the required quality in the completed facilities, for fostering a safety philosophy on the construction and installation sites and for compliance with programme requirements. Responsibilities will include the coordination of the respective field installation teams, which may consist of both internal and external resource.  
 
Whilst this role is predominantly covering works within the Midlands, there may be a requirement to cover other regional schemes within the north and south of England from time to time, which may require staying away from home for short periods. Works will also involve some night-time and weekend working. Works will also require attendance of meetings at various offices as well as working from home and attending on-line meetings, all of which is covered by company Agile Working practices.
 
Typical Deliverables: 
The Project Engineer is responsible for confirming the availability of access to the sites and for coordinating the delivery of information required to achieve the approvals necessary to carry out site installations of telecommunications and technology equipment and for the associated  commissioning and handover of new technology services to the end users.  
 
The Project Engineer will also assist in the field planning, logistics, field quality management and construction safety associated with these works and will carry out any Audit/inspections required to confirm that all contractors, etc. are conforming with all current and approved process/procedures. This will also include witnessing the air and mandril testing of telecommunications ducting and undertaking inspections of site to confirm that they are built as per current NRTS and Highways England standards ready for the implementation of new NRTS services and for reporting any observations to the scheme and the Regional Project Manager. 
 
The Project Engineer will carry out site inspections to include access/egress any issues are reported to the scheme and Regional Project Manager. A pre cabling inspection will be carried out to confirm all of the above is acceptable prior to cable installations commencing. 
 
Skills, experience & qualifications required:
·Experience in design and build and operations and maintenance contracts within the Highways environment
·Knowledge of all relevant safety legislation, customer standards and codes of practice within a Highways telecommunications environment
