Job description

Clerk of Works required for a long term contract in Birmingham. The initial duration of the work will be 12 months, offering full time hours.  This role will likely fall inside IR35.
 
My client is looking for someone with a design background and expereince as a Clerk of Work, working for a consultancy.
 
Role and Duties
 
·Be the initial point of contact for any on-site queries that cannot be resolved by the Contractor
·To liaise with the appropriate client to provide feedback and bring any unresolved issues to the attention of the client
·Quality inspection of the highway works
·Audit the Health and Safety file content to ensure that it is complete, reflects the works undertaken, and will provide satisfactory information for maintenance purposes
·Review testing results and maintain records of the Contractors work
·Ensure compliance with traffic management arrangements
·To liaise with general public and stakeholders where necessary
·To manage and implement good health and safety practices in line with the relevant legislation
 
Knowledge, Experience, Skills and Qualifications
 
·Experienced in working in a public sector environment
·Experience in managing contractors, sub-contractors and dealing with technical queries, liaison with Statutory Utilities, and responding to stakeholders
·Experience in the construction and implementation of highway, traffic management and infrastructure related schemes including comprehensive knowledge of quality control and management, tolerances for materials and works, testing of materials and an understanding of the results
·Experience in inspecting, recording, and reporting work relating to construction works
·Experience in identifying and resolving problems of a technical nature
·A comprehensive knowledge of DMRB and other local and national standards and best practices relevant to highway engineering
·Detailed knowledge of Health & Safety and Environmental requirements related to highway engineering, CDM Regulations 2015, Highway legislation and New Roads and Street Works Act (NRSWA)
·Computing skills including use of the Microsoft Office suite
·Hold a valid UK driving licence and have access to own vehicle
