Highway Engineer
 
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Highway Engineer to come and assess, design, and implement highway maintenance schemes for a busy Highways Team in the East Midlands.
 
The main duties of the Highway Engineer are:
 
·To carry out feasibility studies, consultation, outline, and detailed design (including all necessary calculations and drawings) of highway maintenance and improvement schemes of all varieties and values.
 
·Preparation, issuing and evaluation of contract documents (based on currently relevant Conditions of Contract) for highway maintenance schemes, term maintenance contracts, cyclic maintenance work and other similar requirements of all varieties and values, including the award of contracts to successful tenderers in accordance with standing orders.
 
·Supervise the construction of all awarded contracts, including auditable record keeping, issue of site instructions and agreement of measures and payments.
 
·Contribute towards the requirements of the Local Transport Plan in respect of structural maintenance requirements.
 
·Maintain and update inventory for Bridges and other highway related structures, including monitoring condition and state of asset, and identifying and reporting faults, problems, and their resolution.
