Design Team Leader
Location: Cardiff
 
Key Responsibilities
 
You will contribute to and lead on the successful delivery of the programme of work by feasibility studies, scheme identification, designing, developing and overseeing sound design solutions to meet client requirements within budget and timescale, following company processes and procedures as well as any client specific requirements. Provide regular reporting of progress to external and internal clients and communicating with internal line managers regarding progress against planned programme. Assist in the mentoring and development of staff to grow organically and the development of in-house value management capability. Management and supervision of staff including resource monitoring, health & safety compliance along with quality and delivery.
 
The ideal candidate will require;
 
Degree/Higher National Certificate or Diploma in Civil Engineering or equivalent with appropriate experience to be able to undertake the role
CEng/IEng with appropriate Institution (ICE, CIHT, RGS, CIWEM) desirable or working towards achieving this
Working towards or hold a Pavement Engineer Certificate (with The Institute of Asphalt Technology)
Fully conversant with Highways England's 3D passport process
Competent with Highways England Value Management Guidance process
Strong technical skills and experience of highways maintenance and feasibility/design preferred
Provide advice to clients on technical issues at a senior level
Able to develop VM summary/contract documents in accordance with relevant contracts
Thorough understanding of the DMRB and other relevant standards and guidance notes
Good working knowledge of H&S procedures and CDM Regulations
