Highway/Infrastructure Design Engineer

The organisation has been operating for nearly 150 years and have expertise in Aviation, Buildings, Energy, Industry, Infrastructure, Maritime, Urban Development and Water. My client is currently looking for a Highway Design Engineer to be based in Manchester. Additional opportunity for the London office. The company are currently flexible with remote working.
Design Engineers will provide assistance with the production of detailed design solutions within the design function of the UK Transport team.  The role demands a proactive approach in a team environment and offers substantial opportunity for career progression within the company.
 
Design Engineers will be expected to contribute to the technical excellence of the team and can expect considerable experience on a variety of challenging and interesting Highway and Infrastructure design projects.
 
Responsibilities
·Production of designs for highway infrastructure and associated planning schemes to appropriate standards from initial concepts to detailed design.
·Production of Highway sketch concepts drawings and general arrangements to relevant standards.
·Assistance in preparation of contract documents and specifications.
·Undertaking inspections and surveys, preparation of reports and site supervision of projects.
·Coach junior staff in technical matters.
·Provide guidance to more junior staff.
·Manage small projects or elements of projects as appropriate.
·Awareness of commercial and technical management of projects to assist in ensuring that they are managed effectively within budgetary constraints.
·Developing innovative design solutions to serve and benefit Clients.
·Contributing to the technical development of the design function in the UK.  Staff will be encouraged to develop their own ideas.
 
Other Duties
·Carry out any duties which your line manager may reasonably request within the broad parameters of your role.
 
Skills/Qualifications
·Knowledge or Section 104/106 water industry agreements
·Good Knowledge of DMRB, Manual for Streets and relevant Highway standards
·Proficient in the use of Civil 3D
·Ability in micro-drainage software that can be developed
·Good communicator (written and verbal)
·Good team player to contribute to dynamic group
·Commercially aware
·Min. two years experience in the infrastructure design industry
·HNC plus extensive experience or BSc /BEng in Civil Engineering
·MCIHT/ICE or equivalent professional body.
·Desireable CEng/IEng or working towards
