Graduate Geotechnical Engineer
 
If you have an interest in geotechnical design and would like to work in a design consultancy with a reputation for providing high quality, practical geotechnical solutions, this might be the role for you.
 
My client are looking for a Graduate Engineer to join their growing consultancy and help to deliver high quality, pragmatic designs for our forward workload of exciting and challenging projects. In return, they will provide you with hands on training to support your technical development to help you gain experience and knowledge in a wide range of geotechnical design.
 
The company
They are a highly focused geotechnical design practice and in spite of the recent Covid-19 pandemic they are still finding our workload and client base increasing. Their design work encompasses bearing piles, shallow foundations, retaining walls, slope stabilisation, soil nailing, reinforced soil, ground improvement, earthworks, ground anchors and working platforms. You would therefore be expected to tackle a wide range of situations within the geotechnical field, with full technical backup from the Remedy Directors. No two days are the same, so flexibility and ingenuity are always required!
 
Your objective:
With full support from company Directors and senior staff, you will be undertaking:
·Interpretation of geotechnical data and development of ground models
·Geotechnical design and analysis
·Writing technical reports and specifications
 
Your location would be:
North Yorkshire.
 
Desirable Skills:
·A good analytical ability and numeracy skills.
·A knowledge of pile design, retaining walls, earthworks (unreinforced and reinforced) and slope retention (soil nailing, ground anchoring) - full training and support will be provided.
·Experience in the use of geotechnical design software; preferably WALLAP, Oasys GeoSuite, Rocscience Slide (or other slope stability software).
·Knowledge of AutoCAD.
 
Qualifications / Attributes:
A good civil engineering or engineering geology degree plus an MSc/PhD in geotechnical engineering.
A good knowledge of fundamental soil mechanics principles.
A passion for geotechnics.
Desire to become chartered with ICE or The Geological Society.
Good sense of humour.
