Are you an experienced Estimator in the Energy sector?
 
Our client are a large multi sector infrastructure company, with a great reputation across Construction, Rail, Highways, Utilities and Telecomunication. Working in partnership with several large organisations in the sectors to bring the UK a solid platform to develop from.
 
We are currently working on a recruitment drive for their project with UKPN, working on a 132Kv Network build and upgrade. This is a new project working across the South East of England and part of a large JV to provide upgrades to the network and removal of overhead power lines.
 
Our client are based in a modern office in South London, where you will work with several different teams and collaborate as a group to ensure you provide the best service for UKPN. There is also a large element of home working. The hours will be 45 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
 
 We are currently recruiting an Estimator with experience in the Energy sector. You must have experience with Compatible Units. You will be using a bottom up approach to estimating. The works projects you will be estimating are all large 132kv cabling projects within contestable works. This means there si some competition on rates and you need to b as accurate as possible with your estimates.
 
The role:
 
§Compile top-down budgets and estimates from first principles in-line with company guidelines and procedures, by the due deadlines.   
 
§First principles build-ups should clearly, concisely & confidently illustrate all assumptions / calculations regarding; outputs, labour, plant, materials, management, site set up and subcontract elements.
 
§Organise, manage and contribute to 'Risk & Opportunity' schedules, meetings and workshops.
 
§Engage and obtain specialist sub-contractor / material quotes - analyses / compare and summarise.
 
§Contribute to the construction of outline tender programmes (P6 programme created by others), and be able to use the programme to establish production rates and efficiencies.
 
§Produce 'tender settlement' packs in line with company procedures, and be able to present these to the Senior Leadership Team.
 
§Endeavour to develop relationships with client - maximise opportunities and profit, where possible.
 
§Undertake site meetings / surveys, on occasion - with operations or, on own.
 
§Attend and effectively contribute to pre-tender / negotiation meetings.
 
§Organise and lead tender handover meetings.
 
§Maintain an appropriate awareness of changing criteria's regarding; statutory requirements / new legislation.
 
§Have a good understanding of; NEC3 terms and conditions, CESMM and NRSWA / HAUC highway specifications.
 
 
Requirements:
 
 
Essential:
 
§Must have good estimating knowledge of electrical cabling, equipment, sub-station and associated civils / building, within electrical compounds and public highways.
§Must understand the utilities market.
§Strong analytical and technical skills.
§Accurate and consistent approach.
§Good excel skills with willingness to embrace and adopt other prescribed estimating software.
§Must have good communication skills at all levels, with ability to build good working relationships with client and others.
§Able to manage limited time and resources (others), to meet often challenging deadlines.
 
 
Desirable:
 
§Has sufficient experience and ability to 'hit the ground running', with little assistance.  
§Electrical background / education / qualifications.
§Has experience of estimating; UKPN works or, works within similar collaborative alliances.
§Has an understanding of OFGEM and Compatible Units.
