Job Title:  Estimator
Salary: Up to £45,000
Location: Kent

My client is a rapidly expanding surfacing company in the construction industry, specializing in surfacing solutions. They are currently seeking an enthusiastic and ambitious individual to join their Estimating Department. Job Summary:
As an Estimator, you will be responsible for assisting the Estimating Manager in evaluating cost estimates, preparing detailed estimates and purchase orders, and maintaining effective communication with trade partners and team members. This role offers full training and development to the right candidate who has shown academic aptitude and is passionate about pursuing a career in estimating.
 
Responsibilities:
- Review and evaluate cost estimates for various construction projects
- Collaborate with trade partners and team members to gather necessary information for estimating purposes
- Prepare detailed estimates and purchase orders, ensuring accuracy and completeness
- Ensure timely completion of estimates, meeting project deadlines
- Develop a thorough understanding of project scopes to accurately bid on work
- Manage bid pricing from vendors and subcontractors, ensuring competitiveness and profitability
- Conduct cost analysis and provide recommendations to optimize project budgets
- Establish and maintain strong working relationships with vendors and subcontractors
- Demonstrate excellent multitasking abilities and meet strict deadlines
- Utilize problem-solving skills to address estimating challenges effectively
- Follow up on new and existing clients to maintain relationships and identify potential opportunities
 
Requirements:
- 1 year experience in surfacing (Desirable not Essential)
- 1 year experience in civil engineering (Essential)
- Full driving license
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
- Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment
- Proactive attitude and willingness to learn and develop in the field of estimating
