Job description

We are looking for an Environmental Consultant/Senior Environment Manager to join our clients Environment & Infrastructure Team. You'll be leading the management and delivery of some of the environmental team's key projects across the UK and helping clients manage and obtain environmental consents, including for national infrastructure schemes. Nation Highways experience would be great as you will be working on a major National Highways scheme. This is a 6-12 month contract that offers remote work with ad-hoc office travel to Manchester a couple of times per month along with occasional site visits. This position falls outside IR35.
The role:
This is a key position where you will facilitate the integration of consents and consenting activities into project delivery across design, assessment, and construction. It's an exciting role that will vary greatly from day to day. Some days will be spent working with clients, attending meetings and workshops, and providing advice to help manage their consent applications or compliance. Other days will be spent working with various environmental teams on their delivery programs and schedules. You'll most likely find yourself either working as a project manager or project director, taking responsibility for the environmental team's delivery for the projects you are working on. You'll manage key environmental stakeholder interfaces and be responsible for the financial and program performance of your projects.
Key responsibilities:
Given the nature of the role, we're looking for someone who is highly organized, an excellent communicator, and leads projects from the front. You'll need a strong knowledge of environmental requirements during major development and infrastructure projects in the UK. To fit in with the team, we'd expect you to have a degree (or equivalent) in an environmental or related subject. An MSc or further professional qualifications would be helpful but not essential. The role would suit someone who has led the environmental aspects of development projects and worked in the construction sector, particularly post planning consent and during detailed design and construction stages of projects. If you have strong experience in delivering consents under hybrid bills, DCO, TWA, and TCPA planning regimes, you could be very well suited to the role.
If you feel that you are right for this role technically, but the rate, location or seniority does not suit you specifically then please still feel free to send us your CV. We constantly recruit for roles very similar to this one at all levels UK Wide. We are always keen to chat with you discreetly about your employment situation.
Even if you are happy in your current role for now, we always welcome calls from Highways, Infrastructure & Transportation professionals keen to make their introductions for future months or years. Our specialist team has a combined 100+ years' experience in this market. Please call Evan Brookes at Carrington West on 02393 876025 for more information.
