Job description

Carrington West are assisting their local authority client based on the South Coast in the search for a Sector Development Manager to join their Economic Development and Regeneration team on an initial 6-month contract (Then rolling). The post is currently offered on a remote basis and will continue this way for the foreseeable future.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the sustainable economic growth and long-term economic prosperity of the council, through supporting the growth of local companies in key sectors, including start-ups, early-stage companies and high growth SMEs. The purpose of the role is to develop and deliver programmes and initiatives securing business and employment growth within key sectors of the council's economy; and assist the Economic Development and Regeneration Manager in the management and delivery of the overall Economic Development and Regeneration service.
 
Key tasks include:

Professional
·To use professional knowledge and experience to investigate new opportunities and develop innovative and creative responses in key business sectors of the council's economy, securing high levels of support for skills development, recruitment, innovation and business generation that will encourage businesses to remain, invest and shape the future of their local area.
 
Management
·To contribute towards delivery of the Economic Development Strategy to promote the council as a key location for company development and investment, increasing employment and improving the range and diversity of opportunities for all residents.
·To develop robust and positive working relationships and establish key partnerships with relevant organisations, sector-based businesses, business networks and landowners within the Borough, identifying and securing external funding opportunities and ensuring compliance with reporting procedures associated with public sector funding sources.
·To provide a high level of tailored and effective support and advice to all existing sector-based businesses in the council.
·To actively promote a positive image for the Borough to raise its profile with existing and potential new businesses, developers, and investors.
·To prepare written reports for Economic Development Board and other such Boards
 
It would be beneficial to hold a Post-graduate degree in planning, regeneration or a related discipline.
