Job description

Carrington West are assisting their local authority client based on the South Coast in the search for a Funding Officer to join their Economic Development and Regeneration team on an initial 6-month contract (Then rolling). The post is currently offered on a remote basis and will continue this way for the foreseeable future.

The successful candidate will be responsible for Identifying, attracting and securing external funding for projects to support the regeneration of the council. The purpose of the role is to play the lead role in assisting the Economic Development & Regeneration Manager and Team Managers in identifying and securing external funding for strategic projects, in accordance with the council's priorities.
 
Responsibilities include:
·To pro-actively identify strategic funding opportunities (including LEP, Town Fund, 'Levelling Up' Fund, National Lottery, Historic England, Coastal Communities, Armed Forces Covenant and other government, public and private sources) that contribute towards the Council's strategic priorities, with a particular emphasis on physical and economic regeneration.
·To work with Council colleagues to identify priorities for funding and assess bidding opportunities, including resource implications.
·To develop innovative and creative bids or applications on behalf of the Borough to secure funding to ensure the Council's priorities in areas such as business support, sector development, heritage, place-making and with a particular emphasis on physical and economic regeneration are taken forward
·To support the Economic Development and Regeneration Manager in developing partnership and portfolio funding bids for the economic growth and regeneration of the council.
·To proactively foster mutually beneficial relationships at senior level with external partners and community stakeholders (from the public, private, community and voluntary sectors) in support of securing external funding.
·To engage with external partners and community stakeholders in the council, offering impartial advice, guidance and signposting in relation to available sources of funding.
·To support external partners in bidding for funding for projects in the council that are aligned with the Council's strategic priorities, with a particular emphasis on physical and economic regeneration.
·To be responsible for performance monitoring of approved projects, together with the Economic Development and Regeneration Manager.
·To be responsible for the programme management and associated contractual, reporting and audit requirements of Council led funding bids.
·To collate and interpret financial and monitoring information and verify claims made by delivery partners.
·To develop and maintain effective information and recording systems, provide regular internal updates, including highlighting risks and issues and identifying mitigating actions, and liaise with project officers to ensure that all projects are properly managed and recorded.
·To prepare and submit grant and monitoring claims in accordance with the funder requirements.
·To report to Council management and members on new funding identified, secured and the outcomes generated.
·To provide an excellent level of customer service to all internal and external partners, including businesses and residents.
 
It would be beneficial to hold a Post-graduate degree in planning, regeneration or a related discipline, and have the eligibility for membership of RTPI.
