The role of Ecologist offers the successful candidate a chance to work on local environmental schemes. The role involves providing specialist expertise on ecology to internal and external clients to support the delivery of environmental services and collaborative projects across the Design and Consultancy teams.
 
Day to day job objectives:
·Undertake ecological assessments including habitat and protected species surveys and the production of reports to achieve quality, programme and financial targets that meet customer and stakeholder requirements.
·Contribute to the growth of the ecological service within the Environmental Consultancy, identifying opportunities for development and identifying market opportunity to support achievement of business plan objectives.
·Provide expert ecological advice to colleagues, clients or third parties to support compliance with legislation and delivery of complex and large-scale projects across the organisation or externally.
·Undertake the design and delivery of ecological mitigation schemes, including provision of ecological clerk of works role for internal and external clients to achieve successful delivery and implementation of projects, and adherence to legislative and industry best practice.
·Provide specialist ecology support to Nottinghamshire County Council Planning department and other Planning Authorities, including undertaking the role of expert witness at planning/public inquiry, to ensure proposals are compliant with ecology focused planning legislation and national and local policies.
·Manage communication and liaison with clients and a wide range of internal and external stakeholders including members of the public and elected Members to facilitate project delivery and maintain positive company reputation.
 
What experience you will need:
·Relevant degree and be eligible for full CIEEM membership with demonstrable post qualification experience / knowledge gained through practical experience in an ecological consultancy environment.
·Accomplished and broad background in ecological survey methods and assessment techniques, holding at least one Natural England protected species licence
·Proven experience of working as Ecological Clerk of Works on construction sites
·Proven experience of undertaking Preliminary Ecological Appraisals and producing high quality Ecological Impact Assessments and other technical reports
·Strong ICT skills with specialist computer applications such as GIS software packages and MS Office.
·Experience of preparing fee proposals for ecological services, including financial monitoring and control across a range of projects.
·Experience of providing information, communicating and working collaboratively with internal and external customers, stakeholders and colleagues to achieve delivery objectives
