Cost Engineer - Nuclear Industry - Contract - (IR35 status TBC)

Hybrid working (2 days on site per week, 4 day week)

Our client, a well respected engineering consultancy are currently looking to recruit a Cost Engineer to provide support for ongoing works on Hinkley Point A.
 
The successful cost engineer will work within an integrated project controls team helping to deliver and annual £500m nuclear works programme.
 
The position is offered on a long term contract basis, rates are negotiable for the right candidate.
 
Responsibilities
 
·Maintain and report on time/cost bookings in the project time booking system using cost reporting tools.
·Develop and maintain a suitable cost breakdown structure (CBS).
·Preparation of accurate payment applications, valuation certificates, summaries.
·Monitoring PO  values and having a good understanding of sanction positions.
·Validate/interrogate supply chain data to assist in accurate cost forecasting
·Work with the supply chain to understand variances, drive cost accuracy and timely and accurate reporting
·Provide reliable & accurate Estimate to Completion (ETC) and Expenditure (ACWP) based on Value of Work Done
·Conduct full and detailed Cost Performance Index and Cost Variance analysis (along with subsequent root cause analysis) followed by provision of reporting and recommendations.
 
 
 
Requirements for the role
 
·Experience working as a Cost Engineer, Project Controls Engineer, Quantity Surveyor or Project / Management Accountant
·You must be familiar with NEC3 contracts and working under them before
·Construction or engineering background - ideally nuclear
