Job description

Excellent opportunity for a Communications Manager to gain experience in the Rail industry and work on Public Sector facing campaigns.
 
We are looking for 2 candidates who can manage and deliver consistent and effective communications strategies for key projects and, Co-ordinate a broad range of communication activities (passenger comms, digital, media, stakeholder, community relations and internal audiences) in line with objectives.
They will be required to deliver efficient communications to support the successful delivery of each stage of railway projects.
 
Duration: 6 months
Rate: £400/day Umbrella (Inside IR35)
Location: London (SE1) there will also be an element of home working and visits to the office in Basingstoke
 
Essential Experience:
 
-Significant experience within communications and marketing
-Excellent writing skills and ability to think strategically
-Excellent influencing skills and ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders
-Knowledge of the media and how it operates would be an advantage
-Exceptional organisational with the ability to plan and manage own workload effectively
-Previous Stakeholder management would be an advantage
-Previous experience managing the communications around engineering & construction projects
-Experience working with transport, construction or engineering industry
 
Responsibilities:
 
-Develop and implement communications strategy on key projects (planned passenger disruption campaigns).
-Produce and manage detailed communications plans and budgets, detailing activities and resources necessary for implementation and providing recommendations for continuous improvement / best practice.
-Interface with key internal teams (across stakeholder, community relations, media and internal comms) so that these relationships are appropriately managed.
-Build effective internal and external working relationships with key stakeholders, particularly the communications teams in the train operators, working in partnership/alliance on campaigns, including, where appropriate, managing down passenger demand during closures for works.
-Build relationships both with internal parties across the projects (Project Managers/ Scheme Sponsors) and external industry parties and stakeholders.
-Support on all external communications activity undertaken by the project delivering consistency with the approved communications strategy and in accordance with Network Rail's corporate policies.
-Check that all branding used on the project complies with Network Rail's corporate policy on branding, visual identity and image.
-Produce regular reports on all communications activities on the project, including budget.
-Identify and flag risks associated with the communications campaign/project.
-Manage communication projects to time and budget across all delivery channels.
-Be the subject expert for these communication channels and share expertise with communication colleagues.
-Managing social media content as required.
