Communications Consultant
 
Reporting to the Head of Communications you will work for my client as a Communications Consultant as a part of the Highways England SMP Alliance. Collectively, the Alliance will design and construct the smart motorways programme over a 10-year period, covering the Government's Road Investment Strategy 2 and 3. The SMP Alliance is transforming the way we deliver schemes by applying a programmatic approach, utilising digital rehearsals and embedding methods of construction such as off-site manufacture. There will be a greater emphasis on digital technology, increased efficiency and standardisation. The SMP Alliance will drive value throughout the project lifecycle and promote a better way of working by integrating a diverse supplier network to form a wider enterprise to improve safety, create a better customer experience and deliver greater efficiency.  
ROLE PURPOSE
The successful candidate will have strong management skills and proven experience in creating and driving effective communication activities within an organisation. Supporting the implementation of the internal comms strategy, the successful candidate will play an instrumental role in keeping members well-informed and engaged. The candidate will need to have a thorough understanding and produce different types of communications (leadership/culture/campaigns/crisis/information/two-way engagement). Working across a range of teams to inspire and instil confidence within the Alliance. The role also covers both content and monitoring of channels and engagement and tracking its impact to ensure continuous improvement.  
 
Key accountabilities of the role include:
·Planning and developing compelling content for all digital channels (campaigns, blog posts, articles, videos etc.)
·Working closely with members to ensure activities are communicated across the Alliance, ensuring everyone is kept up-to-date
·Ensuring internal communication messages are aligned with external communication messages
·Managing the internal communication responses to crisis situations
·Ensuring key messages are consistent across all channels and Alliance Partners
·Maintaining an annual communication calendar
·Developing and delivering creative campaigns that nudge desired behaviours and help to embed the Alliance culture and values
·Work closely with the Alliance Creative Team to produce storyboards and promotional material
·Review and analyse performance metrics across digital channels and internal marketing campaigns
·Advise/respond to feedback from members and adjust content accordingly.  
 
ROLE REQUIREMENTS
·Proven experience in communications (internal/PR/marketing)
·Strong management skills, working both independently and part of a team, and prioritising a complex workload
·Experience in producing digital content for multiple channels
·Experience in using digital channels
·Knowledge of digital communications and producing cross-platform campaigns  
·Strong I.T skills and confident using Microsoft 365 package
·Strong stakeholder engagement skills
·Proven experience in developing a positive rapport with team members and demonstrating strong communication and influencing skills.

MOBILITY:
The work will be mainly performed virtually with the likelihood of travel to sites and offices throughout the UK as required.
