Are you a climate change specialist with experience in research and analysis?

Would you love to work for one of the UK's largest transportation governing bodies?

Location: Milton Keynes but currently working from home

Contract length: 9 months +

Rate: £350-£400 day umbrella

My client is a market leader within the rail industry and has done and continues to do significant research and analysis on the impact of weather and climate change on railway infrastructure and operations.

The purpose of this role is to lead engagement on research and analysis on weather and climate resilience within the organisation, develop an analysis framework to improve access to and use of existing research and provide recommendations for future analysis which will answer key questions that will inform planning and decision making in relation to weather and climate change resilience going forward.

The contractor will engage with internal and external stakeholders and ensure connections are made between projects and teams to ensure climate change is integrated into projects where appropriate. They will also lead original research - with support from internal analysts and others as appropriate - to fill knowledge gaps identified. In particular this will include development of a leading resilience metric, consolidating internal analysis on weather impacts on performance and asset sensitivities.

Requirements:

- Experience with climate change adaptation, risk and vulnerability research and analysis in the infrastructure sector
- Ability to interpret data to produce management information and recommendations relating to climate change adaptation
- Ability to identify metrics and collect data to monitor performance relating to climate change adaptation
- Good understanding and working knowledge of UKCP18
- Detailed knowledge of UK climate change adaptation policy
