Job description

Our client is a growing, agile and energetic civil engineering consultancy based in Birmingham who are currently looking for a Civil Engineer to join their team.

The work is primarily focused around the planning and delivery of infrastructure, highway and drainage works on a variety of development focused projects throughout the UK.  The company's aim is to provide engineering consultancy excellence to their clients.

The Civil Engineer role provides the opportunity to work on a variety of schemes from early conception, through to planning, detailed design and delivery and will allow the successful candidate to tackle technical challenges, with support from a knowledgeable and well-respected team. The team are looking to recruit an individual who has experience in a similar role, is familiar with using AutoCAD, Civil 3D and Microdrainage software and has  knowledge of design standards, with good project management skills.

The role is based in Birmingham city centre. Flexible working from home, other offices and client offices is anticipated and will be agreed in advance.

Main job responsibilities:
·Production of drawings, calculations, reports and design documents;
·Independently use design software, including AutoCAD, Microdrainage / WinDes, Civil 3D, KeySign and Lighting Reality.
·Knowledge of the implementation of the designers' duties as required under CDM(2015)
·Follow and contribute to company procedures for completing work to the highest standard and adding value to the schemes we deliver;
·Coordinate with project engineers, engineering technicians and senior team involved in scheme delivery;
·Awareness of design guides and standards;
·Liaise with clients and third parties;
·Identify and manage risks within your area of responsibility;
·Complete site visits to review project constraints and the construction process as required within schemes;

Essential for the role:
·Relevant experience in the design of building infrastructure works including both highways and drainage;
·Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil3D or Microdrainage;
·You must have the right to work in the UK.

Qualifications:
·A degree in Civil Engineering is desirable but not essential.
