Building Surveyor - Capital Projects - Monitoring  
£400 per day (umbrella) 
6 month contract 
Guildford 
 
Are you an experienced Planned works / Capital projects Surveyor with experience with social housing schemes that is looking for your next role? 
If so this Local Authority Contract could give you just that. 
 
Who will you be joining?  
You will be joining a Local Authority to join an established housing asset management team to support them with the Contractor management for PPM and building safety capital works.  
 
What will you do? 
Manage a programme of capital/PPM works to Guildford Borough Council housing stock, ensuring that contract conditions are complied with and that budgets and timetables are adhered to.  The post holder will play a strategic role in ensuring that Housing Services and Building Safety delivers its annual investment programme and take responsibility for meeting GLA targets. 
·Lead regular site progress meetings  
·Produce monthly written reports for the core board meetings and site inspections at all key stages of the programme  
· Ensure that a robust Change Control mechanism is implemented and managed to deliver the Capital programme 
· Exercise effective financial management and control of approved resources to ensure that the contractual financial obligations are met  
·Co-ordinate the effective preparation and maintenance of the project plan and use to control, monitor and evaluate project progress and performance. 
·Participate and contribute to the resolution of concerns, risk management and mitigation  
·Work with the partnering team to produce detailed Section 20 notices for our leaseholders for the works that will be undertaken  
·Prepare for and attend Stage 1 Leaseholder Tribunals and Court to provide evidence as required.  
· Accept handover of completed projects and prescribed project documentation on behalf of the Council, leading on and participating in post completion activities including resident meetings and consultations, defects management and final account cost information assessment.  
·Provide advice on design standards, specifications and proposed scopes of work  
·Establish the annual available programme budgets and issue the Project Briefs for each of the annual Project Partnering Contracts  
· Manage a Project Management Team responsible for the delivery of the Major Capital Works programme 
 
 
What do you need?  
To be successful in your application for this role you will need to demonstrate the following on application and through the interview process:  
 
·Building Surveying Qualification 
·Previous experience within a local authority setting 
·Experience managing contracts and project management teams to deliver on time and within budget.   
·Have held similar positions within recent career history 
·Experience of hands-on project management of PPM & building safety works
