Job description

Are you a Building Control professional with Management qualities?  A local authority in Staffordshire is looking for a Building Control Manager to deliver the building control and land charges service.
 
Role
 
§Management of building regulations application system.
§Plan examination and determination including external national development schemes for key clients.
§Land Charges
§Site Inspection of building works.
§Implementation and enforcement of building regulations and allied legislation.
§Advice on fire safety for all buildings.
§Advice on inclusive design for disabled persons.
§Promoting disabled access
§Advice of safety at sports grounds.
§Dealing with dangerous structures
§Review and set building regulation charges
§Responsibility for financial resources.
§Represent the City and partner authorities on professional and technical groups in a regional and national capacity, working to promote best practice, benchmarking and views on future changes in legislation.
§Chair of the multi-agency sports ground safety advisory group and responsible for the issuing of safety certificates for sports stadia within the City.
Candidate Profile
 
·You will have substantial knowledge of Building Acts and Regulations together with allied legislation relating to Building Control and related areas. You will have knowledge of customer care and the principles of equal opportunities in providing a Building Control function. You will have a proven record of the ability to act as the lead officer ensuring compliance and enforcement within the Building Regulations and ancillary legislation.
 
·As a successful candidate you will have a degree (or equivalent qualification) in Building Regulation or a related subject. You will also be a member of a relevant professional body or eligible for membership RIBA, RICS or ABE. Experience of working in a relevant Building Control environment is key.
