Job description

We are seeking Bridge Inspectors to join our clients expanding Structures team based across the London and South East areas.
 
This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing team and be involved with its development in work across the country.  The structures team currently consists of 15 engineering staff, due to growth of work we are looking to increase the team with Bridge Inspectors who would be based in our London and Kent offices. 
 
The team is responsible for the assessment, design, inspection, maintenance and management of highway bridges, culverts, retaining walls and other highway structures for our various clients.
 
Candidates should be Engineering Technicians or Incorporated Engineers in an appropriate discipline with experience in Civil Engineering, specifically bridge inspection and maintenance as a must. Ideally candidates should already be accredited or close to achieving the Bridge Inspector Competency Scheme (BICS).
 
Experience in the use of BridgeStation, AMX and Confirm or a similar Highways Asset Management System would be an advantage.
 
Occasionally candidates would be required to undertake night and weekend inspections, they should also be prepared to work away from home with travel throughout the UK.
  
The Job...
 
·Responsible to the Principal Engineer for the delivery of bridge inspections for highway local authorities.
·Ensuring that the quality and delivery of highway structures inspections are delivered to meet our customer's requirements.
·Provide technical support and advice to other team members.
·Ensuring compliance with company Health & Safety policies and procedures.
·Ensuring compliance with company quality system and procedures.
·Organise inspections and liaise with sub-contractors for Traffic Management, Access Equipment, etc.
·Respond to client and customer requests and enquiries and ensuring that their needs are met
 
About you...
 
·Minimum of 5 years relevant experience working in a bridge inspection team
·ONC/HNC in Civil or Structural Engineering
·Successfully qualified or working towards attaining "Senior Inspector" qualification to the LANTRA Bridge Inspector Certification Scheme (BICS)
·Experience of successful operational delivery to Local Authority and private clients.
·Proactive, self-motivated, problem solver, a team player and motivator
·Ability to mentor and train other staff in the discipline of bridge inspection
·Ability to communicate at all levels with excellent oral/written/numeracy skills
·Sound knowledge of Management of Highway Structures: A Code of Practice and CS 450 - Inspection of highway structures (Formerly BD63)
·Self-motivated with good interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
·Able to communicate / liaise effectively and professionally with the design team, client's and Contractors
·Excellent organisation skills, ability to work to deadlines and deliver utilisation
·Ability to deliver on time whilst handling multiple projects/tasks
·A full UK driving licence is required
