Job description

As the authority for Building Information Modelling (BIM), you will drive and support the use of digital design and asset information, ensuring compliance with industry standards whilst meeting client requirements. As BIM Manager, you will have a sound understanding of design authoring software as well as federation/clash software and will work closely with the design teams to ensure that design/digital information is completed in the right format and in accordance with best practice. You will take responsibility for digital information produced and ensure a smooth handover with the Construction BIM Manager and be part of a digital delivery team delivering efficient projects. You will take responsibility for identifying training for the design teams and working with them to become an effective team.
 
This position offers hybrid working and will be based out of Birmingham. This role falls inside IR35.
 
Responsibilities
 
·Monitor the completion of BIM Gateway forms across all tenders to fulfil assurance procedures relating to early assessment of design team capability and internal resource considerations.
·Work with the design teams to develop accurate 3D designs in accordance with the scheme requirements.
·Help the design team to get the most out of the key design and authoring software used and smooth the way for delivery into federated models.
·Work with multiple stakeholders to manage and mitigate design risk through the use of federation tools for clash reviews.
·Form a strong relationship with the Construction BIM manager to enable a smooth handover of information for projects.
·Launch and manage BIM Project engagement meetings including setting up team processes via a BIM Implementation Plan (BIP) and Employers information requirements (EIR).
·Responsible for ensuring external supply chain capabilities assessments are completed scored for the business unit/project
·Responsible for ensuring Employers Information Requirements and Asset Information Requirements are responded to and delivered across project(s)
·Responsible for ensuring that the BIM Execution Plan has been produced and maintained for the project(s)
·Ensuring the use of the common data environment to manage and exchanging information, adhering to the methodology set out in BIM & Information execution Plans
·Supporting and auditing the project team with fulfilling standards, methods and procedures using specified software and workflows
·Producing monthly reports to identify and measure BIM implementation within the business unit and across projects
·To be responsible for the digital information plan/strategies that are implemented for business unit/project and provide feedback to Head of Digital/Senior BIM Manager to ensure progress is being made and commitment to such documentation is being observed
·Collaborate with Head of Digital to support the strategic direction and development of BIM and Digital Transformation within the and across the business unit
·Responsible for raising awareness and the profile of BIM and Digital within business unit/project functional departments including Business Development, Work Winning, Estimating, Design Management, Building Services, Commercial, Planning, Operational and SHEA
·Be responsible for supporting career development, coaching and mentoring of reportees
·Be responsible for promoting and using the defined processes, documentation and methodology for delivering BIM in line with company certification and feedback recommendations for improvements
·Actively engage and coordinate with the business unit/project BIM/Digital champions to support implementation/sharing best practice whilst coordinating and contributing to workshop sessions
·Responsible for alignment, assurance, training initiatives, marketing and internal/external communications relating to BIM for the business unit/project
·Be responsible for providing line management to business unit/project BIM Coordinators
·To be responsible for ensuring projects are supported adequately with respect to resourcing and hardware/software deployment.
·Ensure any new innovations are fed back into the appropriate business unit/project platform.


Required Attributes
 
·A strong communicator and able to build positive working relationships, internally/externally across all levels of management
·Confident in the use or thorough understanding of the key design and authoring software (3D Civils, Revit etc)
·Confident and assertive to enable challenges to be overcome
·Experience of implementing BS1192:2007 & PAS1192 suite of standards and knowledge/experience of ISO19650
·Ability to coordinate and manage own workload and prioritise accordingly to supporting project delivery
·Ability to line manage/coach/mentor others
·Resilient, positive & confident character
·Enthusiastic and keen to use new technologies to improve traditional ways of working
·Innovate by sharing ideas and challenging standard practices
·A desire to drive efficiencies thorough continuous improvement
·Understanding of appropriate software tools to view and interrogate models.
·Proficient skills in standard Microsoft office suite
